GDC 2024 Adds 2 Workshops on Fair Play and Production Essentials

It's time to get to work(shop). The Game Developers Conference is excited to announce two new workshops for GDC 2024—and one of them is accepting talk submissions!

New in 2024, GDC will host the Fair Play Workshop and Production Essentials Workshop, in addition to the annual Game Design Workshop, Storytelling Fundamentals Workshop, and Climate Crisis Workshop. GDC Workshops are interactive full- or half-day sessions designed to teach skills and promote critical thinking—consisting of lectures, hands-on exercises, and group discussions.

The Fair Play Alliance is inviting breakout session proposals for inclusion in the Fair Play Workshop—related to practical design methods, learnings, and outcomes, or applied research on designing for digital thriving. They're looking for submissions that focus on how game developers can design for inclusive spaces, more resilient communities that repel or resist bad actors, to promote prosocial play, for greater individual well being in players, to promote a sense of belonging among our players, and challenges related to designing or advocating for this work.

The Fair Play Alliance is accepting talk submissions for the Fair Play Workshop through Thursday, September 28 at 11:59pm PT. Please note that FPA membership is not required to submit a proposal.

Be sure to head to the submissions page for all the information needed to submit your proposal to GDC 2024. For those wanting a few tips on how to get started first, visit the Submissions FAQ for a list of common questions and helpful advice on how to get things rolling.

GDC returns to San Francisco in March 2024, and the GDC Summits call for submissions is now open! For more information, be sure to visit our website and follow the #GDC2024 hashtag on social media.
