Guha Bala is the president and co-founder of Velan Studios, an independent game studio focused on creating breakthrough games that are magic. Founded in 2016, the studio's first game, Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, was released on October 16, 2020 and its second game will be announced soon. The Velan team is comprised of world-class game makers who have worked on several of the most innovative game franchises of the last 20 years. Prior to Velan, Guha started Vicarious Visions with his brother Karthik. Vicarious Visions grew to more than 150 employees, and worked on more than 100 games, including big console releases like Guitar Hero, Skylanders Swap Force, and Skylanders Superchargers. The company’s games sold as many as 40-50 million units and generated billions in sales. The Bala brothers started the company when they were teenagers in high school out of their parents’ basement. Vicarious Visions was sold to Activision Publishing in 2005. Guha graduated from Harvard University with an AB in Chemistry. He received an MBA from the MIT School of Management.
